Changes in the First Three Months Review

by cishanjia @ 2007-07-30 - 17:36:09

I have completed the review of administration of the Ancient Norfolk website, at the end of the first three months. I am proposing the following change this week:-

  1. I will move the maps for catalogue entries AN-2 and AN-5 from the parishes/ folder to a dedicated maps/ folder.

I have also made the following three changes:-

  1. I have moved this blog to this location, and amended the links from the website.
  2. I have slightly amended the rules on how sources are validated as Primary, Secondary or Tertiary. This is likely to affect only one Secondary Source, downgrading it to Tertiary.
  3. I have added a new status level to rating catalogue entries as "Speculative", and have greatly modified the rules governing the rating of entries. This has meant I have downgraded entries AN-1 and AN-2 from "Conjectural" to the new, lower "Speculative" rating. I will review catalogue entry AN-5 this week.
Full details of the rules can be found at: http://www.ancientnorfolk.co.uk/cataloguingrules.shtml

For clarity, I am phasing in a visual "star rating" to coincide with the statuses. This should not, however, be taken as replacing the status. Star ratings range from 0 to 5:-

  • Disproven is given a zero star rating,
  • Speculative is given a one star rating,
  • Conjectural is given a two star rating,
  • Hypothetical is given a three star rating,
  • Unverified is given a four star rating,
  • Verified is given a five star rating.

Ian.
